Football boards: numbers, live score, winners

A football board is a 10 × 10 squares board tied to a real game. Donors buy squares exactly as they do on any SquareFundr board; the football part is what happens on game day.

Setting it up

When you create a campaign, turn on Football board and pick the game from the schedule (NFL, or FBS college). The grid is locked to 10 × 10. The home team goes across the top by default — Swap flips it. Team names become the labels on the board; you can rename them.

Already have a 10 × 10 campaign? Open your Dashboard, click the football-board button on the campaign, and pick the game there.

The numbers

The 0–9 digits along the top and down the side are drawn on game day, not before. Nobody knows their numbers until then — that's what keeps a pool fair, and it's why you can't draw them early.

• They draw automatically the morning of the game.
• Once it's game day you can also click Draw numbers now in your dashboard if you'd rather do it yourself.
• Until then the board shows "?" in every slot and a note that numbers are drawn on game day.

How winners are decided

At the end of each quarter, take the last digit of each team's score. Find that digit across the top for one team and down the side for the other — the square where they meet wins that quarter.

Example: Texans 14, Bills 10 → digits 4 and 0 → the square in the "4" column and the "0" row.

What donors see

• The live score in the campaign header, with the latest play while the game is on.
• In the lead right now — the square that would win if the game ended this second, outlined on the board.
• Every scoring play and the square it put in front.
• Once the game is final: the winner at each quarter and at the final score, under the board. Quarter results aren't announced publicly during the game — how you pay out is your call.
• A "How winners are decided" note.

Payouts

You set the payouts and pay winners directly. SquareFundr never holds money — donations go straight to your PayPal or Square account like any other campaign. A common split is 20% for each of the first three quarters and 40% for the final score, but that's entirely up to you.

Is this legal where I am?

That is your call to make, and you make it before you create the board. A football board with cash or prize payouts may be considered gambling under state, local or federal law, and may be restricted by your school, league or organization. When you create one you confirm that you have checked the laws and rules that apply to you and that you alone are responsible for running it lawfully, including any prizes and payouts. SquareFundr provides the software only, takes no fee or cut from any campaign, never holds the money, is not a party to any wager or payout, and you agree to hold SquareFundr and its owners harmless from any claim arising from your board. Many teams keep prizes non-cash (donated gear, sponsor gift cards) for exactly this reason.
